Description
Perched on a ridge above Rio en Medio, this 1,600 square-foot home brings high-performance building to the pitched-roof vernacular of northern New Mexico. Heartwood Construction led both the design and the technical execution — working within a tight budget to maximize space and deliver something light, airy, and quietly extraordinary in its efficiency.
The 12″ thick, cellulose packed walls, actively sequester carbon and form a thermal envelope robust enough that a single mini-split handles the full heating and cooling throughout the year. Even high on the ridge, the house holds its comfort with ease — a testament to careful budgeting, commitment to details and experience in performance.
